PVH Halloween 2024
You know what it is like to create or purchase costumes for all the kids, then load up in a vehicle to go door to door and be greeted by someone of the community to provide those treats. Those living at Parkview Haven also enjoyed and remember those days so why not continue with that tradition? Thirty of those living at Parkview Haven wanted to hand out candy and greet the children. The Oak Room is turned into a very large maze where the kids & parents walk through being greeted by our residents. The residents had a great time check out the smiles. Parkview Haven did not ask for donation of candy but some of you still brought candy and we appreciate this because 244 children came through the doors of Parkview Haven. Special thanks to Malva for always being our person that counts only the kids. Parkview Haven is very Blessed for the families, volunteers and staff that came and helped make this night successful for those we serve! We also appreciate the Uptown Project for sending the link for Parkview Haven to be on the trick or treat map and for helping make sure the community knew that Parkview Haven had a different start time. 244 children in an hour and half. Thank you for helping create those memories and the miles of SMILES! -
2024 PVH Prom
It is the time of year to have a “Prom” and that is exactly what we did. Parkview Haven held a “senior” prom with the help of the West Central Health Occupations class under the direction of Jennifer Johns. The theme was 1960s. The students selected all the songs and were the masters of music, helped decorate at Parkview Haven and even made cookies. Check out the cake, which Parkview Haven purchased from Fingerhut Bakery, North Judson, all we asked for, was tie-dye. So many comments how the cake was so beautiful that “we couldn’t cut it” as it would ruin it. “Prom” pictures were taken. A variety of tattoos was available for anyone that wanted one. Those living at Parkview Haven had the opportunity to wear colored sunglasses, flower headband (or the men had a tie-dye bandana) and peace sign necklace. Alexis Lauderdale made corsages and boutonnieres for everyone. The students helped with the dancing that also included the chicken dance, Cotton Eye Joe, a conga line and more. So much fun! After the party as cleanup was happening, there was already discussion about a theme for 2025. Employees were encouraged to participate. THANK YOU West Central Health Occupations for making a difference for those living at Parkview Haven. -
WCHS Sunshine Society visits PVH - Jan - 2024
The weather was cloudy and gray outside; however, the West Central Sunshine Society group brought many rays of sunshine to the inside of Parkview Haven. This is the first time the group has come to Parkview Haven and we are thankful that they chose Parkview to visit. The group divided and conquered as some of them did manicures, some played cards, some played checkers, some played flip over, some did crafts and everyone had a great time visiting. The group hopes to come again in the spring. THANK YOU West Central Sunshine Society and sponsor Brittney Spoonemore for making great memories with those living at Parkview Haven. -
Celebrating the New Year 2024
Before 2023 came to an end there were fun events that happened at Parkview that we need to share. There was a corn hole game that involved staff and those living at Parkview Haven. This was followed by the chicken dance competition amongst staff and we had "a chicken" show up to compete. Those living at Parkview decided who was the best chicken dance song dancer. The winners won a chicken! Fierce competition at both events. Thank you Parkview Haven staff that took part and helped create all those SMILES! Our final event of the year was the New Year's Eve Social. Those living at Parkview decided what snacks they wanted at the party. Everyone had their choice of glasses as well as noise makers. The evening had a fun discussion about the "good old days". Our hearts were full with the sharing of stories and what a great way to close out 2023! -

2022 Christmas & New Year's Eve
Parkview Haven is very Blessed with the kindness and generosity of people. The Christmas Season did not happen they way we had planned but we did our best to be flexible and adjust. In this life you have to take what happens and make the best out of it (you know that saying make lemonade out of lemons). You have sent goodies, you have prayed, you have provided gifts, you have adapted programs that were to happen inside the building, you have made ornaments, you have given of yourself, you have helped create those smiles to make this holiday season special for those at Parkview Haven and we THANK YOU! We ended the year with a New Year's Eve Celebration please check out the smiles as well as the fun hats, crowns and glasses -
Soup on the Menu - 2022
Parkview Haven has many great cooks with some working in our dining services and some that live at Parkview. Recently some of those living at Parkview were able to help make soup for the evening meal. As you can see many hands make light work. Those that participated did the cleaning, peeling, chopping, dicing and slicing with one offering to go and do the dishes "to help with clean up" at the end. All the food items were given to dining services (Kris Rodgers) to cook and create the soup. We told those that participated if everyone liked the soup to tell them you helped make it and if they don't like it tell them "the kitchen must of made it" which made them smile. Everyone enjoyed the soup! Parkview is Blessed to have so many great cooks under one roof! -
Super Bowl 2022
Super bowl 2022 is now history. Parkview Haven held the annual super bowl party in our large dining room so people could social distance. Luckily, the temporary cable used last year was secretly stashed away for this year and a large TV was set up. Special thanks to our Dining Services for the food and our evening nursing staff. Special thanks to Lou Young for helping from start to finish. There definitely was noise made during the game and we had people all the way to the very end. Check out the smiles of some that attended. -
Wintertime Memories
Parkview Haven celebrated "Wintertime Memories" by having a snowball fight and serving snowman pudding cups. The snowball fight was so much fun with so much laughter. A big thank you to the staff for having fun with those living at Parkview Haven and helping create those miles of smiles -
